Ajijic (Axixic)
Located on the north shore of lake Chapala, the largest in Mexico, and 5 miles from the town of Chapala, at an altitude of 1535 meters above sea level is better known for its large foreign population, mainly retirees. Ajijic means "Place where water overflows". As a tourist destination and since most of its visitors are foreign, there are a large number of businesses catering to them.
Ajijic is located 45 minutes south of the Jalisco State capital, Guadalajara and 30 minutes from the international airport Miguel Hidalgo and has comfortble hotels for every budget.
